Grants to Nebraska and Iowa nonprofit organizations to break the cycle of poverty in the Omaha metropolitan area. Funding is intended to address basic needs of those struggling with poverty, empower adults to become more self-sufficient, and help at-risk youth through educational opportunities.

Greater priority is given to organizations that have outcome measures in place and that can adequately show the impact of their direct service program within the grant application.

The Foundation expects applicants to have an understanding of other organizations working in the same issues and articulate how they work together when applicable.

Requests must address issues within the following three focus areas and priority funding categories:

Basic Needs
- Affordable Housing
- Community Health
- Food
- Emergency Shelter
- Homelessness Prevention

Adult Self-Sufficiency:
- Domestic Violence
- Financial Education
- Literacy and Language
- Parenting Classes
- Workforce Development

- Mentoring
- Out-of-School Programs
- Teen Parenting

In order to apply, organizations are required to have a tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) and be in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service.
