Grant Description
Grants of up to $250 to New Hampshire teachers, educators and community members to help students connect with nature by developing outdoor classrooms and schoolyards. Funded projects will have a direct benefit for student learning about the environment, involve students in planning, implementation and use, and include a plan for long-term sustainability.

Examples of project that qualify:

-Planting trees, shrubs, vines or perennials to provide wildlife food or cover.
-Establishing pollinator gardens.
-Building ponds or other water sources such as birdbaths or fountains.
-Installing bird feeders and feeding stations.
-Construction of nature trails.
-Building, bridges, benches and similar structures.
-Purchasing outdoor classroom supplies, such as weather stations.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Grants are available to teachers, other educators and community members working in cooperation to develop an outdoor classroom may apply.

Applicant must have been trained in Project Learning Tree or have someone on the team who has been trained.

Not Funded:
-Purchasing education supplies.
-Funding staff, speakers or other assistants on the project.
-School gardens and/or supplies.

Pre-Application Information
Grant proposals must be received by April 15, 2016.

Recipients will be notified by May 5, 2016. Grant funds will be presented at the NH Project Learning Tree Annual Celebration on May 15, 2016. Awardees or their designees are asked to be at the celebration.
