Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $500 to New York classroom teachers, home school educators, and student service group leaders for environmental and conservation-based educational activities in the Delaware-Otsego region. Funding is intended to allow regional educators to add new environmental and conservation-focused activities to their curriculum or to continue existing initiatives.

Grants are awarded to educators in the DOAS region, which includes Delaware, Otsego, eastern Chenango, and western Schoharie Counties as well as small parts in southern Herkimer and Montgomery Counties.

Previous grants have funded projects such as an environmental field day; construction of a weather station; backyard birds and animal habitats study kits; and pond studies.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Maximum award is $500 (unless funding permits additional).

Term of Contract:

The project must be completed before the end of the 2019 Fiscal Year (December 31, 2019).

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Classroom teachers, home school educators, and student service group leaders may apply for these competitive grants.

Environmental Education Grants are awarded to educators in the DOAS area (Delaware, Otsego, eastern Chenango, and western Schoharie Counties as well as small parts in southern Herkimer and Montgomery Counties).

This competitive grant program is available to all educators, including those in Home School Programs and Student Service Organizations.

Funds may not be requested for the purchase of computer hardware or software, salaries, contractors, or bus fees.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline for applications for 2019 Grants is Friday, March 29, 2019. Notifications will be made by April 3.

Preference will be given to projects that reflect additional support through matching funds or in-kind donations. Teachers may receive one grant per school year.
