Grants to Hawaii County, Hawaii nonprofits, associations, foundations, corporations, and schools for community benefit projects. Funding is intended for programs in the following areas: health, crime, children, veterans, elderly, homelessness, education, or other community benefit programs. Awarded funds must be used within Hawaii County and for the benefit of its community.

All applicants are encouraged to actively participate in the Hawaii Island Visitor Industry Charity Walk on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Participation in the event will affect the applicant's funding.

Grants will be considered on the basis of the applicant's community impact and may vary widely in scope and size.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants range in size up to a total of $10,000 per organization (not per program); however, grants of more than $10,000 per organization will be considered on special and rare occasions.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for Hawaii Island Visitor Industry Charity Walk (VICW) grants including, but not limited to, Corporations, Associations, Foundations and Schools. Proof of nonprofit status is required.

An organization’s level of participation and the amount of funds raised in the Hawaii Island VICW will be taken into consideration during the funding allocation process. Agencies that do not participate actively in the 2019 VICW may not be considered for funding. In addition, if an organization raises more funds than they are requesting in their Grant Application, the Allocation Committee may increase their donation to match their participation level.

Funds will not be granted for:
- The purchase of tangible real property or personal property.
- Operational and/or administrative items.
- Payment of the accumulation of interest or for the reduction of deficits or loans.
- Capital Fund Drives

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline to submit completed Grant Application and attachments: Friday May 10th at 4:00 PM.

Organizations will be notified about the status of their Grant Applications in August of 2019.
