Grant Description
Awards to Massachusetts private and public K-12 teachers to honor outstanding contributions to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education. The awards are intended to promote STEM education and to recognize educators who are making an exceptional impact in the field.

Criteria for selecting finalists and the winner:

  • Spend the majority of the school day involved in direct instruction to students
  • Be skilled in implementing effective teaching strategies
  • Be able to explain personal teaching philosophy
  • Be able to inspire students in STEM-related topics
  • Show involvement and leadership in student-related extra-curricular activities
  • Be respected by students, parents and co-workers
  • Be nominated by someone with direct knowledge of the candidate’s educational impact


Additional Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility: Nominations must be submitted by individual legal residents of the fifty (50) United States.

In order to be eligible to win, “Nominees” must be full-time, active, certified, K-12 classroom STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) teachers in a state-accredited Massachusetts public or private school.

Teachers cannot nominate themselves for entry into this Contest.

No illegible, incomplete, forged, or altered entries will be accepted.

Pre-Application Information
This contest nomination period begins at 9:00 AM (ET) on November 7, 2023 and ends at 11:59 PM (ET) on January 14, 2024 (the “Contest Nomination Period”). The Nominee application period begins at 12:00 AM (ET) on January 15, 2024 and ends at 11:59 PM (ET) on March 11, 2024 (the “Nominee Application Period”).

How to Enter:
- There are three (3) methods of entry for the Contest – online and mail. In order to be eligible to win, the winner must (a) be nominated and then (b) complete an application form.
- Upon entry, eligible Nominees will receive an application. The
application must be completed and submitted, in accordance with the procedures contained therein, during the Nomination Application Period.

The Massachusetts STEM Teacher of the Year Committee will review submitted applications and select five finalists to be interviewed in early April.

Application finalists and the Winner(s) will be contacted via email within seven (7) days from selection. If application finalist(s) cannot be contacted, alternate finalist(s) will be selected by Sponsor.

Limit: One (1) entry per person.

One (1) Winner and Four (4) Runner Up Winners will be determined from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period.

Estimated Size of Grant
Grand Prize Details:
- Winner's school will receive a $5,000 grant to be used for STEM education
- Winner will receive two tickets to a 2024 season Patriots home game, two tailgate passes, and honored during a pregame ceremony
- Winner will also be honored at either the Massachusetts STEM Summit or during Massachusetts STEM Week

Runner Up Prize Details:
- Four runner ups will each receive a $1,000 grant from RTX to be used for STEM education
