Grants of up to $1,000 to USA and Territories schools, community groups, nature centers, or museums for projects that involve youth in environmental and conservation education. Applicants must attend a pre-application training. Projects should help students enhance the environment of their schools or neighborhoods. Proposed projects must incorporate service-learning, exemplify student voices, involve at least one community partner, and secure at least 50% matched funds (in-kind acceptable).

The projects partner students with their whole school, local businesses and/or community organizations, and provide opportunities for student leadership. Examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to: students implementing recycling programs at their school, conserving water and energy, establishing school gardens and outdoor classrooms, improving a forest, or restoring a natural habitat.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Any organization, community group, nature center, museum, school, etc. that is based in the United States or U.S. Territories and that involves youth in environmental and/or conservation education is welcome to apply.

Pre-proposal Conference:

To be eligible, applicants must have attended a PLT workshop, either in-person or online, that provides training, lesson plans, and other resources to help integrate these projects and environmental education into your curriculum or youth programs.

Please note: Only PLT’s online workshops for PreK-8, Early Childhood, and new e-units meet the online training eligibility requirements.
