Grants starting at $15,000 to Oregon and Washington nonprofits, school districts, agencies, and churches in the Blue Mountain area to benefit local communities. Program areas include arts and culture, economy, basic needs, environment, education, neighborhoods and communities, and health and wellness. Grants for general support will be considered.

The majority of funds available are designated for use by organizations serving Walla Walla County. A smaller portion is available for grants to organizations outside of Walla Walla County who fall within the Blue Mountain Community Foundation's (BMCF) service area. The Foundation’s service area includes Columbia, Garfield, and Walla Walla Counties in Washington, and Umatilla County in Oregon.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant awards will range between $15,000 and $100,000. There is potential for a grant of over $100,000 for an outstanding, collaborative opportunity.

Term of Contract:

Grants are typically awarded for one-year periods.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) or have a 501(c)(3) as a fiscal agent to apply. A fiscal agent or sponsor can be a government agency, church, school district or non-profit organization.

Grants are available for non-profits in the Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield and Umatilla counties.

Grants usually will not be made for annual fund drives, field trips, travel to or in support of conferences. No grants will be made for sectarian religious purposes nor to influence legislation or elections.

Pre-Application Information:

- Grant applications available: May 1, 2018
- Grant applications due: July 1, 2018

Successful proposals will receive grant acceptance paperwork by late October. Grant acceptance paperwork must be signed and returned to the foundation before grant funds can be issued to your organization. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified via mail by mid-October.

The Foundation prefers to receive one well-crafted and developed proposal per organization. However, up to four applications per organization may be submitted.
