Grants of up to $20,000 to California nonprofit organizations in eligible locations for programs benefiting women and girls. Funding is intended for new and ongoing programs and projects to ensure the mental health and financial stability of women and girls. Activities must benefit San Luis Obispo County.

In the second year of a two-year commitment, the Women’s Legacy Fund will focus its funding on programs or projects that support:

  • Girls Mental Health: Examples: self-care, chronic sadness, self-esteem, addressing bullying and harassment, internet safety
  • Women's Financial Stability: Examples: financial literacy & education, economic independence, support for Latinas, income disparity, food security, senior support, housing stability

The Women’s Legacy Fund will consider proposals that:

  1. Strengthen or expand existing programs
  2. Develop or introduce new strategies to the community

Generally, The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County will place special evaluative emphasis on the following: 

  • Ability to measure program participant progress using the Search Institute’s “Developmental Assets” framework for youth
  • Demonstrated cultural competency in serving Latinas and other under-served populations

Maximum grant amount will be $20,000 per year for a total of $40,000 for two-year proposals
