Grant Description
Opportunity for Israel and International individuals seeking to launch projects involving Jewish culture. Participants will attend a 10-day summer program where they will acquire the skills and support they need to get their project started. Projects must take place in Europe, involve Jewish culture, and be concrete and feasible.

The Project-Incubator is Paideia’s 10-day summer program for supporting the development of new initiatives for European Jewish life, to date totaling over 220 projects throughout Europe, more than any other program. It provides some 8 hours of scheduled activities each day, including lectures, workshops, peer review as well as four hours of individual tutoring time for each participant during the program. The first European program of its kind, it is still by far the leading program for supporting social innovation in Jewish Europe.

The Paideia Project-Incubator is a program for activists and innovators for European Jewish culture who want to develop projects in the educational, cultural, communal, intercultural and institutional fields.

Over ten days, the Paideia Project-Incubator provides a step-by-step working process – from the idea stage to realization – and includes workshops, seminars, individual tutoring time for each participant, peer-to-peer feedback sessions, and check-ins. The curriculum includes sessions on project development, fundraising, Jewish content, individual tutoring, social activities and much more. There are eight hours of scheduled activities each day, cultural and social programming at night.

Project qualities:

  • The project must respond to a specific need, be a concrete and feasible.
  • The project should involve Jewish culture and take place in Europe (in one or several places).
  • The proposed project could either be new or be an already existing project that is currently under development towards its next phase.
  • Projects should have a clear social benefit.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
The Paideia Project-Incubator is a program for activists and innovators for European Jewish culture who want to develop projects in the educational, cultural, communal, intercultural and institutional fields.

Applicants’ personal qualities:
- Capacity and experience in the project’s field and in leading projects
- Proficiency in English
- Willingness to share experiences and knowledge with others
- A background in Jewish studies and/or active involvement in Jewish culture.

In addition, the committee will seek to assemble a geographically diverse group including representation from different countries in Europe. Although the applicant does not need to be European, preference will be given to European candidates.

Term of Contract
The 2022 Paideia Project-Incubator will take place (June 26 - July 5, 2023).

Applicants must be available to work on realizing the project during the next year (2023-2024).
