Grants to Florida nonprofit animal shelters and rescue organizations to promote the welfare of animals in Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton counties. Letters of Intent are due November 30, 2016. Assistance will be awarded to organizations that do everything within financial and staff means to take in as many animals as comfortably possible, including animals that may be in kill shelters or puppy mills.

Term of Contract:

Recipients must expend funds within 12 months of date awarded unless prior knowledge of a lengthier time is requested on application.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:
- Be a recognized non-profit, tax-exempt organization by the IRC Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service and cannot be funded by federal, state or local government.
- Be a no-kill shelter
- Be based in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa or Walton counties.

Not Funded:
-Debt reduction or operational deficits
-General operating expenses or overhead
-Financing or refinancing an existing debt
-Improvements or renovations to property where the organization does not own or have at least a three year lease unless under certain circumstances that must be approved by the 400 PAWS Board of Directors.

Pre-Application Information:

To apply, applicants must contact the Funding Source to request an LOI form. The LOI form is due November 30, 2017.

Once the LOI is received, you will be sent an acknowledgement form. On January 6th of each year, the application process begins. You may start working on your application beforehand, but the amount to be awarded will not be announced until then and may change the focus of the project you are applying for.

The recipients will be announced at an awards reception in March 2018.
