Grant Description
Grants of up to $21,000 to Nevada higher education faculty to train pre-service K-12 teachers in STEM education. Particular emphasis is placed on training teachers to provide students with hands-on science, engineering or other college readiness skill activities, including the development of teams to compete in science and engineering challenges.

NVSGC is particularly interested in enhancement activities associated with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields using NASA-related content on the study of earth as a planet and the exploration and habitation of space.

Specific areas of emphases include earth systems science and the utilization of NASA resources for studies of climate change, systems engineering and ongoing interests in planetary geology and geophysics, astrophysics and astrobiology.

Other innovative activities and strategies that will substantially contribute to the overarching programmatic goal also will be considered.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Faculty at any Nevada System of Higher Education Institution are eligible.

All direct funded participants (students and faculty) and those receiving significant awards (greater than 160 contact hours or $5,000) must be U.S. citizens. Faculty who are involved in the administration of the Space Grant activities and who are not compensated from the award funds need not be U.S. citizens.

Citizens of the United States include: Citizens of Puerto Rico, Washington DC, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Northern Marianas.

Permanent residence status, green card, or student visa are not accepted.

Due to requirements of the Space Grant program, a 1:1 institutional match is required on all awarded funds.
