Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $5,000 to Maryland public and private PreK-12 schools for educational programming in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties. Funding is intended for a wide range of teacher-led classroom activities, as well as administration-led school-wide projects.

Please note that non-public schools must be certified by the Maryland State Department of Education.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Application maximum: $5,000.

Term of Contract:

Grants are intended for the 2018-2019 school year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be public or MSDE certified nonpublic schools serving pre-k through 12th grade students on the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland (specifically Somerset, Wicomico, and/or Worcester County).

In general, the grant program does not fund:
- Athletic Facility Infrastructure
- Athletic Field Maintenance
- Building Campaigns
- Capital Requests
- Debt Retirement
- Endowment Funds
- Fundraising Campaigns
- Nonprofit Start Up Fees (e.g. 501c3 Articles of Incorporation or Form 1023 Filing Fees)
- Ongoing/Operating Expenses
- Operational Deficits
- Partisan Political Activities
- Playground Equipment
- Political Lobbying Activities
- Sectarian Religious Programs

Pre-Application Information:

Education Grant applications are due August 24, 2018 by 11:59 PM EST.

Please note: All first-time applicants to the Community Foundation are required to establish a grantee relationship by making their initial application to the Community Needs grant program, which is offered twice a year.

Education grants are reviewed/approved annually in October.

A special education reception for awardees takes place in November.
