Grants to Virginia nonprofit organizations in eligible locations for programs and projects that enhance the quality of life for underserved youth and adults. Funding is intended for activities within the focus areas of educational and workforce success, health and wellness, and resilient communities. Eligible applicants serve the residents of the Greater Richmond area, which includes the counties of Chesterfield, Goochland, and Henrico, and the City of Richmond.

Support Richmond nonprofits should:
- Support underserved youth and/or adults in the counties of Chesterfield, Goochland, Henrico, or the city of Richmond
- Promote education & workforce success, health & wellness or resilient communities; and
- Show a demonstrable need based upon the (a) demand for the program or (b) population served by the program
Ineligible
The Carmax Foundation is Unable to Support:
- Requests for the donation of vehicles
- Business ventures or requests for loan or debt retirements
- Organizations that limit membership and services based on race, religion, color, creed, gender, age, or national origin
- Organizations that conflict with the CarMax Auto Superstores' mission, goals, programs, or products
- Fraternal, athletic, or social clubs
- Labor and political organizations or campaigns
- Requests for general operating support, capital campaigns, endowments, event sponsorships, or scholarships
- Organizations categorized by the IRS as a church, convention, or association of churches
Pre-Application Information
Submit an online proposal between September 1 and October 15.
Applicants will be notified of their status by the following spring.
