Grants of up to $30,000 to Ontario nonprofit performing arts organizations for training and professional development opportunities for individual artists, administrators, and production staff. Funding will be provided to professional theater, dance, music, and opera companies to cover the salaries of interns working full-time for one year at the funded arts organization.

This program provides individuals with more knowledge, better skills, broader work experience, and useful contacts – all of which will help them make a stronger professional contribution to the performing arts.

The goals of this internship program are to (a) help organizations create productive entry points into the sector, (b) realize opportunities to foster leadership, and (c) respond to skill shortages in critical areas.

Internship grants will be made for the intern’s complete salary and statutory benefits to a maximum of $30,000 for a full-time internship.

Internships must be a minimum of eight weeks in duration, up to a maximum of twelve months. Internships must be completed by December 31, 2017.

Applicants to this program must:

- Identify the prospective intern in the application;
- Be professional theater, dance, music, or opera companies;
- Be based in and active within Ontario;
- Have a minimum of three years’ of organizational history; and
- Be registered as a charity with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Please note:
- Organizations may apply individually or in partnership with others.
- Internships must take place in the province of Ontario.
- Co-op work terms, or any other component of an intern’s educational degree, are not
eligible for funding.
