Grants to Tennessee and Virginia nonprofits for programs that address the medical, social, and educational needs of children in eligible areas. The geographic focus for funding includes the Tennessee counties of Carter, Greene, Hancock, Hamblen, Hawkins, Sullivan, Johnson, Unicoi, and Washington, and the Virginia counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, and Wise. Projects for which grant monies are being requested must directly affect the needs of children.

The mission of Speedway Children’s Charities remains true to the ideals it was founded upon in 1982: To care for children in educational, financial, social and medical need in order to help them lead productive lives.

The Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children Jeff Byrd Grant is given to an agency who will pay it forward to the children they serve. The grant will still be awarded to a nonprofit children's organization in the 18-county area surrounding Bristol Motor Speedway. Unlike the regular SCC Grants, the Jeff Byrd Grant allows agencies to apply for funding, which will aid with capital expenditures and vehicles if needed. The project must be something exceptional.

The Jeff Byrd Grant project must be valued at $50,000 or higher. If higher, the applicant must have a plan in place to fund the amount above $50,000.
