Grants of up to $1,000 and grants of up to $3,000 to Laramie County, Wyoming public schools to allow teachers to enhance their curriculum and offer unique and innovative educational opportunities. Projects involving furnishings or technology purchases must be submitted before the deadline. Funding is intended to provide academic, personal, and vocational programming for students beyond the capacity of the district budget. Funding is available in two categories: Excellence in Education and Student Enrichment. Collaboration with other teachers in the same building and across the district is encouraged.
Preference for the Excellence in Education grant is given to those who reach out to the community to fulfill part of their grant project. Excellence in Education grants should involve multiple classrooms and/or schools and have a strong community connection.
The Cheyenne Schools Foundation helps teachers use innovative programs that inspire excellence in the classroom by:
- Captivating students’ interest with interactive learning
- Encouraging stronger academic achievement through engaging classroom experience
- Developing skills and a passion for learning that will last a lifetime
- Empowering teachers to develop curricula that meet their own specifications and strengths.
Teachers who receive funds are expected to share the results of their programs with the LCSD#1 professional academic community and the Cheyenne Schools Foundation board. This ensures that successes are shared, new programs and teaching methods are explored, and the overall educational environment is strengthened.
