Grant Description
Grants of up to $20,000 to Michigan nonprofit organizations, government agencies, IHEs, and schools in eligible locations for conservation projects. Funding is intended to protect, restore, and enhance water and natural resources. Eligible applicants must be located in Newaygo County, or directly serve the people of Newaygo County.

Grants are made to sustain the waters and water-dependent natural resources of the Muskegon River Watershed by supporting conservation, enhancement, and restoration projects.

Grant requests are accepted for projects or programs that:

  • Conserve, enhance, and/or restore the watershed
  • Improve the quality and value of the watershed including education for responsible utilization of natural resources of the watershed
  • Reverse degradation
  • Demonstrate collaboration among organizations
  • Leverage funding sources

Additional Eligibility Criteria
- 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations
- Units of government
- Educational institutions (preschool through college)
- Organizations that are located in Newaygo County or directly serve the people of Newaygo County

Ineligible
Not Typically Funded:
- Grants to individuals
- Purchase of property
- Sponsorships for one-time or special events
- Existing obligations
- Religious programming requiring religious affiliation and/or religious instruction
- Projects that begin prior to award notification

Application opens June 1.
