Grants to Iowa nonprofit organizations and government agencies for community benefit initiatives in eligible locations. Areas of focus include human service, historic preservation, health, the environment, education, community betterment, and arts and culture. Funding is intended to enhance the quality of life for the people of Waterville.

Most grant amounts range from $250 up to $1,500.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations must provide benefits to the people of the Waterville and must meet the following criteria in
order to apply for a grant:
• Be classified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or be a government entity. Tax-exempt organizations classified as other than 501(c)(3) are also eligible if and only if the project is deemed charitable; please contact the office to discuss the project’s eligibility prior to submitting a proposal.
• Be current with all state and federal reporting requirements, such as filing of 990 forms.
• Must not have any past due grant reports for previous Waterville Community Foundation grants.

For groups, projects, or initiatives that do not meet the above eligibility requirements, the Community Foundation will consider your requests if submitted through a fiscal sponsor. Fiscal sponsors must be classified as a 501(c)(3) or a government entity.

The following restrictions apply:
• Inherently religious activities such as religious worship, instruction, or proselytization or activities that promote specific religious doctrine are not eligible.
• The following are not eligible for funding through the Waterville Community Foundation:
- Individuals
- Businesses/For-Profit Companies
- Economic Development for activities directly benefiting businesses

Timeline:
- Open: July 15, 2022
• The grant application deadline is 5:00 pm on September 30, 2022. Assistance with applications will be available until 5:00pm on the date of the deadline.
• All applicants will be notified of the results of the grant process in mid-December 2022.
• Grant awards will be sent out to recipients in January 2023.
• Grant reports, for successful applications, will be due on January 31, 2024.
