Awards to Northwest Territories communities, organizations, businesses, individual volunteers and recreational professionals to recognize outstanding contributions to recreation in northern communities. Nominations will be accepted for the following award categories:

Scott McAdam Youth Leadership Award:
The Scott McAdam Youth Leadership Award recognizes a youth under the age of 24 for outstanding achievements and contribution towards improving the quality of life of members of their community through volunteerism, work experience, and studies.

Innovation Award:
The Innovation Award recognizes a community, organization, or individual in the NWT that has developed a creative, unique, or inventive program, facility, or approach to recreation and parks services. The award recipient demonstrates a commitment to improving access and opportunities for community members to choose an active and healthy lifestyle.

Award of Excellence:
The Award of Excellence recognizes an individual, organization, or community that significantly contributes to recreation and parks development in the NWT. The award recipient demonstrates professionalism, community engagement, and significant achievements in the delivery of recreation and parks services.

Active Elder Award:
The Active Elder Award recognizes inspirational elders who are active and share their traditional activities or knowledge. The Active Elder Award recognizes and honours community role models.

Canadian Parks & Recreation Association Award of Merit:
The Canadian Parks & Recreation Association (CPRA) Award of Merit recognizes an individual, organization, community, or business for outstanding achievement in recreation and parks. This achievement will have contributed to the advancement of recreation and parks territorially and/or nationally.

Honourary Life Membership:
Honourary Life Membership recognizes a member who has made an outstanding contribution to the recreation and parks field, who has significantly served the NWT Recreation and Parks Association and is nearing or has reached the end of their careers in the recreation and parks field. This award may recognize individuals or organizations.

Innovation Award:
1. The nomination is for a new program, facility, or approach to delivering recreation and parks services.
2. The nominee shows a commitment to improving access and opportunities for community members to choose an active and healthy lifestyle.
3. The nominee promotes long-term growth of community recreation and parks services.

Scott McAdam Youth Leadership Award:
1. The nominee is 24 years of age or younger.
2. The nominee demonstrates achievements or contributions towards improving quality of life in their community.
3. The nominee demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities.

Award of Excellence:
1. The nominee has made significant contributions to recreation and parks development in the NWT.
2. The nominee demonstrates a long-term commitment to the delivery of recreation and parks services.
3. The nominee demonstrates a commitment to improving recreation and parks services in their community.

Canadian Parks & Recreation Association Award of Merit:
1. The nominee has played a significant role in a recreation and parks achievement.
2. The recreation and parks achievement was made at the community, regional, territorial, or national level.
3. The nominee’s work is outstanding and is done in the spirit of contributing to the public good.

Active Elder Award:
1. The nominee participates in and inspires recreational activities in their community.
2. The nominee participates in, supports, and shares traditional activities or knowledge.
3. The nominee is a role model in their community.

Honourary Life Membership:
1. The nominee is nearing or has reached the end of their careers in the recreation and parks field.
2. The nominee has made outstanding contributions to the recreation and parks field.
3. The nominee has served significantly with the NWT Recreation and Parks Association.

Submit nominations before July 31, 2017.
