Grants of up to $10,000 to Massachusetts nonprofit organizations for programs and projects that address a broad range of current and emerging community needs in the MetroWest region. Funding will be provided for proposals that specifically focus on issues related to the aging population, domestic violence, housing and transportation, mental health and special needs, and community education and outreach for newcomers.
For the purposes of these grants, the MetroWest region includes the following 33 Cities and Towns: Acton, Ashland, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Dedham, Dover, Framingham, Harvard, Holliston, Hopkinton, Hudson, Lexington, Lincoln, Marlborough, Maynard, Medfield, Medway, Milford, Millis, Natick, Needham, Sherborn, Southborough, Stow, Sudbury, Walpole, Waltham, Wayland, Wellesley, Westborough, Weston, and Westwood.
The Foundation is especially interested in funding organizations that benefit:
- Low-income populations
- People of color
- Other marginalized populations
When reviewing proposals the Foundation considers:
- Programs that meet a documented need, are well planned, and have clear, measurable goals
- Organizations that are financially sound and have the capacity to support the proposed project
- Potential impact on the intended beneficiaries
- Potential for sustainability and impact beyond the grant period
- Organizations that clearly indicate how the requested funds will be used within a specified timeframe
Grants of up to $10,000 are awarded.
One-year grants are awarded.
Applicants must be registered 501(c)(3) organizations serving the MetroWest region, as defined as the following 33 Cities and Towns: Acton, Ashland, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Dedham, Dover, Framingham, Harvard, Holliston, Hopkinton, Hudson, Lexington, Lincoln, Marlborough, Maynard, Medfield, Medway, Milford, Millis, Natick, Needham, Sherborn, Southborough, Stow, Sudbury, Walpole, Waltham, Wayland, Wellesley, Westborough, Weston, and Westwood.
Organizations must operate such that they do not discriminate in the hiring of staff or the provision of services on the basis of race, religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or disability.
Grants are not awarded to town agencies, individuals or schools (private, public, pre-K, charter, or Chapter 766).
- Organizations whose missions are to primarily serve youth and/or provide youth related activities will not be considered for funding through the Family Support Grant Program. If you have questions, please contact the Foundation to determine your eligibility.
- Organizations that primarily work to alleviate food insecurity will not be considered for the Family Support Grant Program.

It is recommended that new organizations register for office hour times slots; this is a one-on-one meeting with a member of the program team.

If your organization has applied for funding in a prior cycle, please use the same account that was previously used. Directions to reset your password are provided on the logon page.
Proposals must be submitted online by 5:00pm on Monday, August 7, 2017. Late applications will not be considered.
Notifications will be made at the beginning of December. Grants are awarded at an Awards Ceremony on Monday, December 11th at 5:30pm at the Weston Community Center.
Special Note for Prior Grantees:
New funding is contingent upon the applicant’s successful evaluation and reporting of past grant awards from the Foundation for MetroWest. Applications will not be considered if any prior year reporting has not been completed. Final Report forms are available by logging into your online account.
