Grants of up to $10,000 to Massachusetts nonprofit organizations to address various family and community issues in the MetroWest region. Program areas include housing, transportation domestic violence, aging, mental health and special needs, and outreach and community education for newcomers. The Foundation also seeks proposals that will benefit marginalized groups.

Through its Fund for Families, the Foundation for MetroWest awards discretionary grants that align with the belief that equitable access to opportunities and resources is central to a strong and healthy region. The Foundation envisions a diverse and inclusive community where there are no barriers to accessing resources and services in MetroWest. The Foundation for MetroWest will consider project-based, capacity building, and general operations requests.

The Foundation seeks to support organizations whose strategies address current and emerging community issues related to:
- The aging population
- Housing and transportation
- Domestic violence
- Mental health and special needs
- Community education and outreach for newcomers

The Foundation also seeks those proposals that particularly benefit:
- Immigrants
- LGBTQ people
- Low-income populations
- People of color
- Refugees
- Women

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:
- Have 501(c)(3) tax status as a registered nonprofit organization or have an eligible fiscal sponsor
- Not discriminate in the hiring of staff or the provision of services on the basis of race, religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or disability
- Serve the MetroWest region. (MetroWest is defined as the following 33 cities and towns: Acton, Ashland, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Dedham, Dover, Framingham, Harvard, Holliston, Hopkinton, Hudson, Lexington, Lincoln, Marlborough, Maynard, Medfield, Medway, Milford, Millis, Natick, Needham, Sherborn, Southborough, Stow, Sudbury, Walpole, Waltham, Wayland, Wellesley, Westborough, Weston, and Westwood.)

To be eligible for funding, a prior grantee must have completed its project and/or spent all funds from Foundation for MetroWest and submitted its final report.

Ineligible organizations include:
- City/town agencies, including libraries
- Individuals
- Schools – private, public, pre-K, charter, or Chapter 766

Please note, the Foundation for MetroWest reviews youth-serving programs through the Youth Development Grant Program and food insecurity efforts through the MetroWest Hunger Relief Fund. These programs will not be considered through the Family Support Grant Program.

Pre-proposal Conference:

The Foundation for MetroWest 2019 Grant Open House will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM EDT at Wellesley Free Library.

The 2019 grant cycle is an online process and will operate based on the following timeline:
- June 24 9:00 AM: Applications open online
- August 5 5:00 PM: Deadline for proposals
- September 16 – October 4: Potential site visits and/or follow-up conversations
- Mid-November: Applicants notified of decision

Awards will be determined by mid-November. Grantees will be notified by email of decisions and grant recipients will receive necessary paperwork and funding within two weeks of the notification date.
