Grants of up to $30,000 to California nonprofit organizations in eligible areas to address the needs of residents in the Korean community. Priority funding is intended for programs that respond to the critical needs of disadvantaged youth, the elderly, survivors of domestic violence and other forms of violence, immigrants, and low-income individuals and families in the Korean-American community. Program areas include physical and mental health, senior care and empowerment, domestic and community safety, civic engagement, and youth empowerment. Eligible applicants are located in and serve the Greater Bay Area.

KACF-SF is particularly interested in organizations that:

  • Address the critical needs of under-served and under-resourced communities in one of the five program priority areas: Physical & Mental Health; Senior Care; Domestic & Family Safety; Civic Engagement; and Youth Empowerment. 
  • Work with Korean Americans either as a target population or within the larger group of constituents served by the organization/program
  • Seek to expand their outreach to and/or work with the Korean American community
  • Engage in partnerships with other community organizations and stakeholders
  • Measure and document quantitative and qualitative outcomes
  • Have successful or innovative program/service models that can be replicated
  • Can clearly articulate how KACF-SF’s grant will advance their work

Two-year grants (maximum of $30,000 per year; $60,000 total over two years) are for program specific support only and not for general operating support.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants typically range from $10,000 to $30,000 per year. The maximum grant amount is $30,000 per year.

Term of Contract:

Organizations may apply for a one-year or two-year grant. KACF-SF will award a limited number of two-year grants.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

KACF-SF will consider organizations that:
- Are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or have a fiscal sponsor that is 501(c)(3)
- Are located within the greater Bay Area
- Have an operational history of at least 6 months
- Have an established and working Board of Directors
- Have filed IRS Form 990 and/or audited financials

General operating support is available only to organizations with a budget of $1 million or less.

KACF-SF does not provide funding for:
- Individuals
- Capital fund projects
- Endowments
- Fundraising events
- Feasibility studies
- Real estate purchases
- National or international organizations
- Public or private schools, colleges or universities
- Political causes or campaigns to elect candidates to public office
- Programs that do not comply with Federal, state, or local equal employment statutes
- Organizations that are based outside the greater Bay Area.

- Initial Review Notification: September 19, 2022
- Site Visits from the Community Grants Committee: Mid-October
- Notification of Grant Awards: Mid-December

To be considered for funding, please submit both a hard copy and electronic copy of the completed grant application. The original must be postmarked by 5pm on the deadline date.

No organization will receive more than one Community Grant from KACF-SF in any one grantmaking year.
