Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) - Highway Division
Grants to Vermont municipalities for the creation of local park-and-ride lots in communities throughout the state. The purpose of this program is to encourage local communities to reduce the number of single-occupancy vehicles (SOVs) on the roads, thereby mitigating traffic congestion and vehicle pollutants.
In order to be eligible for this grant, the proposed facility must be located on Municipal, State or leased property on or near a State Highway, available to commuters on a daily basis year-round, provide parking for a minimum of ten vehicles, and will be owned and maintained by the local municipality.
The grant funding is available for engineering and construction activities only. Eligible activities may include but are not limited to a gravel surface, paved surface, and lighting and/or signing.
If public transit is present nearby, collaboration with the provider is strongly encouraged. Electric Vehicle (EV) charging Level 1 and 2 can be included in project, but some restrictions apply.
Developed plans are not necessary to submit an application.
