Grants to USA nonprofits, tribes, and local agencies for programs that serve people living with paralysis. Funding is intended for a wide variety of services that benefit individuals with paralysis, their caregivers, and their families. Nonprofits with programs promoting expansion, innovation, best practices, promising practices, and/or evidence-based practices are encouraged to apply. Projects must serve at least three individuals with paralysis and/or their families and caregivers to be considered for a grant.

Direct Effect Quality of Life Grants (Tier 1) support projects and activities that clearly impact individuals living with paralysis and their families. Examples of funded projects may include (but are not limited to): sports wheelchairs for a wheelchair basketball team; adapted glider in a community playground; kayak for a rowing program; accessible gym equipment; hydraulic lift at a pool; electronic door openers at a community center; wheelchair accessible picnic table at a county fairground; programs for preventing abuse in adaptive sports; camp programs; subsidized lessons for therapeutic riding; transportation costs for an inclusive after-school program; and support groups. These grants will have a short-to-medium-range impact.

For types of Direct Effect (Tier 1) projects funded, see: https://s3.amazonaws.com/reeve-assets-production/Grant-Application-and-Program-Guidelines-2020-2nd-Cycle-DE-and-HIP.pdf#page=5

High Impact Priority Grants (Tiers 2, 3, and 4) offer three increasing levels of funding and focus on targeted high-priority issues for people living with paralysis and their families. This enables the Foundation to continue to support valuable projects and services in communities throughout the USA and to highlight, fund, and publicize high-priority issues and successful solutions. Grantee organizations will demonstrate the capacity to implement the grant without intensive technical assistance and capacity building, as well as the capacity for program development, evaluation, and sustainability.

Priority areas for High-Impact Priority Grants are:

  • Transportation
  • Respite/Caregiving
  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Nursing Home Transition
  • Employment

For additional information about the High-Impact Priority Tiers, see:https://s3.amazonaws.com/reeve-assets-production/Grant-Application-and-Program-Guidelines-2020-2nd-Cycle-DE-and-HIP.pdf#page=6

Special consideration will be given to proposed projects that serve current military and/or veterans and their families, as well as those projects that target individuals with paralysis in underserved groups of the population, including (but not limited to): persons at risk of incarceration, current or released prisoners; ethnic minorities; homeless; indigenous or tribal communities; LGBTQ; limited English proficiency; rural residents; migrant workers; low-income and/or poverty populations; and newly injured people with paralysis and their caregivers.
