Grants ranging from $500 to $3,000 to North Dakota and Minnesota nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life in the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks region. Applicants must pre-register with the online grants system before applying. Applications will be considered for programs in the areas of community and human services, arts and culture, education, human rights, and green spaces.

Program Areas:

Arts and Culture: Provide exposure and access to artistic and cultural experiences which generate artistic growth and creativity for all ages.

Community and Human Services: Support programs, projects, and activities that promote community or human services to all.

Education: Assist individuals in gaining knowledge and developing life-long learning skills through educational programs, projects, and activities.

Green Spaces: Improve, benefit, or make use of public accessible green spaces and natural environment along the Greenway through programs, projects, and activities. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, maintenance and permanent capital improvements, support for public use awareness, marketing, environmental education, and related activities.

Human Rights: Support efforts that raise awareness and promote understanding and respect for human rights among all through education, mediation and conflict resolution, celebrations and intervention program, projects, and activities.

Proposed projects must be completed between October 1, 2019, and September 30, 2020.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grant applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Be a nonprofit organization with tax-exempt status or be fiscally sponsored by a nonprofit with such tax-exempt status
- Have principal operations in Grand Forks County or Polk County, unless prior approval received
- Be current with all reports if a prior Community Foundation grant recipient
- Demonstrate general fiscal responsibility and agree to use the funds in a manner consistent with the grant application
- Have a Board of Directors that meets on a regular basis
- Submit a balance sheet and profit and loss statement signed by the organization's Treasurer
- Submit a complete and accurate application, providing all requested information, by the stated deadline

Applications will not be considered for the following: non-program operating expenses, individuals, annual appeals, membership drives, endowments or capital campaigns, religious organizations for religious purposes, or projects of organizations with discriminatory employment or program practices.

- 2019 Online application opens: July 15, 2019, at 9:00 AM
- 2019 application deadline: August 16, 2019, by 5:00 PM
- 2019 award notifications: Expected by September 30, 2019

Registration for the online portal is strongly required well in advance of application submission.

If your proposal contains minor errors, an effort will be made to contact you to correct the errors after the submission deadline and prior to the distribution of the applications to the grant review panel. If your proposal is incomplete or otherwise ineligible, you will be notified within five business days of the submission deadline that your proposal will not be considered.
