Request a Grant Writer

Grants to California nonprofit organizations to support services and initiatives to benefit local residents in eligible locations. Funding may be used for programmatic or operational expenses. Organizations with BIPOC and/or women leadership are encouraged to apply. Applicants and projects must serve residents of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, or the surrounding communities.

The Foundation prioritizes organizations and projects with impact in one or more of the following areas:

  • Supporting children, families, and/or senior citizens
  • Enhancing community life
  • Uplifting vulnerable populations
  • Increasing educational opportunities

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants generally range from $1,000 to $5,000.

Term of Contract:

LACF does not award grants that are to be used for multiple years.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

LACF accepts grant applications for charitable, educational, or community building purposes, primarily from tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.

The Foundation is particularly interested in proposals from organizations led by women and/or BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color).

LACF does not award grants that are to be used for re-granting or multiple years. Grants will not be awarded to membership service organizations if the grant would be used to support one of their programs, to religious, political, or profit-making organizations, or individuals for personal benefit.

The Grantee will not use any grant funds:
A. To conduct lobbying or otherwise attempt to influence legislation (within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code Section 4945(d)(l).
B. To influence the outcome of any specific public election or to carry on, directly or indirectly, any voter registration drive (within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code Section 4945(d)(2).
C. For any grant which does not comply with the requirements of Internal Revenue Code Section 4945(d)(4) (relating to grants to organizations other than public charities).
D. For purposes other than charitable, scientific, or educational, within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code Section l70(c)(2)(B).
E. For purposes other than those stated in this Grant Agreement. Also, this grant is made exclusively to the Grantee and may not be transferred or assigned to another organization or person.

- Applicants notified of awards or declinations: May 3, 2021.

LACF may contact applicants to gather additional information, documentation, or clarification.

In general, only one Community Grant will be awarded to an organization within a 12-month period.
