Grants to Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Montana nonprofit organizations to benefit communities within the funding source’s service territory in the areas of education, vulnerable populations, economic development, and culture. The funding source’s service territory includes eligible portions of Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, Northeastern and Southwestern Oregon, Eastern Montana, and the City and Borough of Juneau Alaska.

Focus Areas:

1) Education - Supporting K-12 education particularly in the fields of science, math and technology; and higher education including scholarships.

2) Vulnerable and limited income populations - Providing assistance to those on limited incomes and support for initiatives to reduce poverty.

3) Economic and cultural vitality - Supporting projects that help our communities and citizens to grow and prosper.

To be eligible for consideration, an organization must:
- Be tax exempt under the IRS and provide a copy of its 501(c)(3) determination letter
- Impact an area of focus for the Avista Foundation
- Benefit communities and citizens in geographic areas served by Avista Utilities

Not Eligible:
- Organizations located outside Avista Utilities’ service area
- Individuals; team or extra-curricular school events; fundraising events; trips or tours; religious, veterans or fraternal organizations
- Organizations that discriminate for any reason, such as race, color, religion, creed, age, sex or national origin
- Organizations without 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
- National health organizations (or their local affiliates) or research/disease advocacy groups
- Memorial campaigns

Applications are reviewed biannually in May and November (application deadline of April 30 and October 31, respectively), although organizations are encouraged to submit applications at any time.
