Historic Architecture Assistance Fund Grants

Grants to Wyoming Nonprofits, Agencies, and Property
Owners to Maintain Buildings of Historic Significance

GrantWatch ID#: 174453
Agency Type:

Foundation / Corporation

Alliance for Historic Wyoming, Wyoming Main Street,
and Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office

Grants to Wyoming private property owners, nonprofit organizations, and governmental agencies for activities that preserve, protect, maintain, and rehabilitate their buildings, structures, or properties that are over fifty years old. This program connects historic preservation architects and engineers with historic building owners, helping owners address rehabilitation issues with a plan that both honors the building’s past and meets the owner’s future needs.

Funding will be provided for services such as building assessments, structural analyses, analyses of building codes and ADA requirements, feasibility studies for reuse, and recommendations for rehabilitation of exterior features.

Grants are for planning only (not construction) and the Fund will not pay for all architectural and engineering costs associated with a project. Grants cannot be used for remodeling projects that would change the character of the historic building.

If this application is awarded, the recipient will be expected to work with the architect and Wyoming Main Street and/or Alliance for Historic Wyoming to promote the Historic Architecture Assistance Fund. This may include signage at the property, publication of photography, research and writing, and any report materials generated by the preservation architect or sponsoring agencies.

Historic Architecture Assistance Fund grants are available to all owners of historic buildings, including private property owners, nonprofit corporations, and government agencies. The grants are given for historic buildings (generally understood to be over 50 years of age) in need of rehabilitation, whose owners intend to maintain or restore the historic integrity of their property.

Deadlines are March 25 and October 15.

Please Note:

- All properties will be treated as historic, which means eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, and therefore proposed work will meet the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.

- All applications must be completed and signed by the property owner or a representative of a board or similar group that owns and manages the property.

- All final reports will be available upon request as a means to share information about the best approach to historic property rehabilitation projects. Applicants agree to this potential sharing of information about their property when they submit an application.
