Grants ranging from $500 to $4,000 to Northeast Iowa nonprofit organizations for programs and projects that aim to meet the needs of residents in Mitchell and Howard Counties. Funding is specifically intended to support proposals that focus on the areas of education and environment. Further details for each of these two priority areas are outlined below:

- Education:
Improving the quality of education through support of both public and private institutions of learning. Providing opportunities for children to learn and experience things they may not ordinarily be able to do. Nonprofit organizations providing an educational component within their programming are also eligible to apply.

- Environment Education and Protection:
Supporting conservation of natural resources, preventing and eliminating pollution, preserving water quality, protecting wildlife, and educating the public about environmental priorities. Providing opportunities for experiencing nature and outdoor recreation.

Typically, the Fund distributes a small number of grants (1-5) per year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be tax-exempt, nonprofit entities classified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, (or other eligible tax-exempt organization) or governmental agencies engaging in charitable activities.

Non-501(c)(3) organizations should contact Dotti Thompson, Program Manager to discuss the eligibility of projects before applying.

If an organization is not classified by the IRS as a 501(c)3 charitable organization, they must partner with and eligible Legal Applicant/Fiscal Sponsor, who must submit the application.
