Fellowships ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 to USA, Canada, and International individuals engaged in graduate level, post-doctoral, or independent study for funds to conduct research projects, utilizing one of the funding source's archives facilities that are located in New York and Jerusalem.

Research topics in the fields of twentieth-century Jewish history, modern history, social welfare, migration, and humanitarian assistance will be considered, as well as other areas of academic research covered in the JDC archival collections.

The fellowship stipends may be used towards travel, transportation, and living expenses.

Available Fellowship Opportunities:

1. The Fred and Ellen Lewis JDC Archives Fellowship
2. The Ruth and David Musher JDC Archives Fellowship
3. The Sorrell and Lorraine Chesin JDC Archives Fellowship
4. The Martin and Rhoda Safer JDC Archives Fellowship

Applicants may apply to one of the above Fellowships or to all concurrently.

In 2017, 5-6 fellowships will be awarded.

The Fred and Ellen Lewis JDC Archives Fellowship: The amount granted will range from $2,000 to $5,000 per fellow.

The Ruth and David Musher JDC Archives Fellowship:
The amount granted will be $2,500 per fellow per year.

The Sorrell and Lorraine Chesin JDC Archives Fellowship:
The amount granted will be $2,500.

The Martin and Rhoda Safer JDC Archives Fellowship:
The amount granted will be $2,500 per fellow per year.

Fellowships are available to USA, Canada, and International senior scholars, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and independent researchers.

Funding Restrictions:
Fellowship stipends may not be used for family members.

Candidates must submit applications by January 15, 2017, to the JDC Archives online. An Academic Advisory Committee consisting of leading scholars and members of the JDC Archives Committee will be responsible for selecting the fellows. Applicants must include an essay detailing the relevance of the JDC archival collection(s) to their proposed research, and if possible, indicate specific material(s) to be consulted, such as documents, photographs, and audiovisual materials.

Please note that applications must be submitted in English.

Applicants may apply to the Fred and Ellen Lewis/ JDC Archives Fellowship, the Ruth and David Musher/ JDC Archives Fellowship, the Sorrell and Lorraine Chesin/ JDC Archives Fellowship, the Martin and Rhoda Safer/ JDC Archives Fellowship or to all concurrently.

Applicants are only eligible to be awarded one fellowship from the JDC Archives per calendar year. Please note your application preferences on the online application form.
