Grants to Terre Haute, Indiana nonprofit organizations to assist local residents with high quality childcare programs. Applicants must contact Foundation staff prior to applying to confirm program eligibility. Funding is intended to support impactful program development, and to provide tuition assistance for those in need.

The Terre Haute Day Nursery Selection Committee will evaluate each proposal based on its feasibility, soundness of the implementation plan, viability of subsequent long­-term financing, and the requesting organization's commitment to the promotion of quality childcare in the Wabash Valley.

Grant requests should reflect collaborative efforts, organizational commitment and the ability to benefit a large segment of the community. They also should focus on the desire to improve the community in a lasting way.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must have 501(c)(3) status.

Generally not funded:

- Operational expenses of existing programs
- Endowments or deficit funding
- Funds for redistribution by the grantee
- Conferences, publications, films, television and radio programs unless integral to the project for which the grant is sought
- Religious purposes
- Travel for individuals or groups such as bands, sports teams and classes
- Annual appeals and membership contributions
- Commonly accepted community services, which are tax supported such as fire and police protection, welfare and library service, etc.
- Political campaigns or lobbying activities

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline to submit the Terre Haute Day Nursery Application is October 1, 2019. The committee will carefully review and consider each proposal submitted and make funding recommendations to the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, Inc.'s Board of Directors.

Applicants will be advised of the Selection Committee's decision approximately 3-­4 months after submission. Distribution is scheduled for the following January.

Prior to applying, call or write the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, Inc., to determine if your proposal is appropriate for consideration. Applicants must verify that their organization's 501(c)(3) determination letter from the IRS is on file with the Wabash Valley Community Foundation.
