Grants of up to $1,000 to South Carolina individual artists for projects that will advance their careers within the disciplines of dance, media, literature, visual arts, or theater. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact program staff before applying. Consideration will also be given to projects that provide high-quality arts experience for general community-wide audiences.

Quarterly project grants are awarded to help pay actual project costs; ordinary living expenses during the project cannot be supported.

Up to $1,000

Projects may begin after January 1 and end before June 1.

The applicant must:
-Be a practicing artist in dance, literature, media, music, theater or visual arts;
-Be a legal resident of the US and SC with a permanent residence in the state for one year prior to the application date and throughout the grant period;
-Be 18 years of age or older at the time of application;
-Not be a degree-seeking, full-time student during the grant period.

-Applicants may apply to the Arts Commission for quarterly support at any of the four deadlines.
-Applicants may submit only one application per quarterly deadline.
-Applicants may receive only two Quarterly Project awards per fiscal year.
-Priority may be given to applicants and projects that have not received funding in the past.

Funding is intended to cover project costs rather that living expenses.

Deadlines and Grant Periods:
-May 15 for projects beginning after July 1 and ending before June 1.
-August 15 for projects beginning after October 1 and ending before June 1.
-November 15 for projects beginning after January 1 and ending before June 1.
-February 15 for projects beginning after April 1 and ending before June 1.

Applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the S.C. Arts Commission offices before 5:00 PM, no later than the stated date.

Note: If a deadline falls on a weekend or state holiday, submissions will be accepted through the following business day.

A 1:2 (applicant:SCAC) match is required. 100% of the applicant's match must be cash. No in-kind or creative time is allowed as part of applicant's match.
