South Carolina Arts Commission (SCAC)
02/15/18 5:00 PM
Grants of up to $1,000 to South Carolina individual artists for projects that will advance their careers within the disciplines of dance, media, literature, visual arts, or theater. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact program staff before applying. This program also encourages activities that promote excellence in an arts discipline and are accessible to general community-wide audiences.
Quarterly project grants are awarded to help pay actual project costs; ordinary living expenses during the project cannot be supported with S.C. Arts Commission funds.
GrantWatch ID#: 175566
Up to $1,000
Projects submitted for the November 15 deadline may begin January 1 and end before June 1.
The applicant must:
Be a practicing artist in dance, literature, media, music, theatre or visual arts;
Be a legal resident of the US and SC with a permanent residence in the state for one year prior to the application date and throughout the grant period;
Be 18 years of age or older at the time of application;
Not be a degree-seeking, full-time student during the grant period.
Applicants may apply to the Arts Commission for quarterly support at any of the four deadlines.
Applicants may submit only one application per quarterly deadline.
Applicants may receive only two Quarterly Project awards per fiscal year.
Priority may be given to applicants and projects that have not received funding in the past.
This grant requires a 1:2 (applicant:SCAC) match. 100% of the applicant's match must be cash. No in-kind or creative time is allowed as part of applicant's match.
Before applying, you are strongly advised to contact your discipline coordinator to determine whether your project meets the guidelines.
The Arts Commission will not review or fund quarterly project grant applications from a resident of a county that has a subgranting arts council. In such counties, applicants must apply to the subgranting agency for quarterly project grants, rather than to the Arts Commission. (Call your local arts council or your S.C. Arts Commission Discipline Coordinator to determine the appropriate funding source.)
Applicants may apply at any deadline for a proposed project, but cannot apply for a project that has already begun.
Applications must be electronically submitted (if applicable), postmarked or hand-delivered to the S.C. Arts Commission offices before 5:00 PM, no later than the stated date. Note: If a deadline falls on a weekend or state holiday, submissions will be accepted through the following business day.
