An award of $5,000 to a Texas history teacher in recognition of outstanding instruction. Nominations are considered for teachers of middle school, high school, and post-secondary school. Typically one winner per year is selected. In some years, there have been two winners. Should the committee decide that no entry meets the requirements, they may withhold the award at their discretion.

History teachers at the middle school, high school, and college levels are eligible.

Any person may nominate any full-time teacher presently teaching history in a Texas school or college. Letters of nomination sent to the award committee must be postmarked on or before December 9, 2016.

Nomination Requirements:
-Nomination letter for the nominee (from the teacher or other)
-Nominee's resume or vita, as well as other letters of recommendation
-Cannot exceed seven pages

The winning teacher for 2016 will be presented a certificate and a check for $5,000 at the Association's Annual Meeting March 2017 in Houston, Texas.
