Grants to Michigan organizations in eligible regions to support projects and programs that benefit youth aged 5 through 18. Applicants must attend a mandatory conference and register prior to applying. Funding is intended to serve local youth in areas including mental health, college and workforce preparation, and disabilities, as well as for programs that address discrimination and promote justice. Eligible organizations will serve youth in Washtenaw County.

Youth Council is particularly interested in programs that are youth-initiated or involve youth in decision-making.

Funding Priorities include:

  1. Mental health initiatives for teens
  2. Programs that equip teens for employment before and/or after graduation
  3. Programs that prepares students for college and the college admissions process
  4. Programs that address anti-discrimination in key areas such as:
    • Mental health
    • Physical and cognitive disabilities
    • Gender identity
    • Sexual orientation
    • Socioeconomic status
    • Ethnicity
    • Religion

Key Elements:

  • Transportation
  • Stipend participation for leadership positions
  • Sliding scale/reduced cost participation fees
  • Programs and organizations that validate youth voice and perspective

The Youth Council grant program accepts applications from organizations that serve youth between the ages of 5-18 and deliver programs addressing (A) Mental Health, (B) College Preparedness, (C) Job Skills Training, (D) Anti-Discrimination Initiatives, (E) Disabilities, and (F) the work of the Juvenile Division of the Probate Court.

Pre-proposal Conference:

All applicants are required to attend one of three Information Sessions. Information Sessions will be held on:

January 10th, 1:00-2:00 PM @ AAACF (301 N.Main Street, Suite #300, 48104)
January 15th, 10:00-11:00 AM @ AAACF (301 N.Main Street, Suite #300, 48104)
January 24th, 3:00-4:00 PM @ AAACF (301 N.Main Street, Suite #300, 48104)

Note: Information Sessions fill up quickly and are capped at 30 attendees. To ensure space for all, organizations are asked to only send 1 representative total over the course of the three sessions.

AAACF will validate parking in the Ann Ashley Parking Structure (220 N.Ashley) for this Information Session.

- Register for the NonProfit Portal to receive access to the grant application. All organizations must submit a request for credentials by Monday, January 27, 2020.
- Attend one of three required Information Sessions.
- Submit all required narrative sections through the NonProfit Portal by Wednesday, February 5, 2020.
