Grants of $700 to Kentucky schools in eligible communities for educational projects in the field of energy conservation and efficiency. Projects must be relevant to the subject of energy, which may include wind, coal, solar, hydropower, electricity, nuclear, or biomass.

Eligible communities include the counties of Warren, Edmonson, Simpson, Grayson, Butler, Ohio, Logan, and Barren.

Examples of acceptable projects/expenditures include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

- Purchase of energy management kits/tools, such as energy team kits from NEED (National Energy Education Development Project), for students/energy teams.

- Energy efficiency/conservation teacher/student materials (workbooks, manuals, handouts).

- Speakers to promote and bring awareness to energy efficiency/conservation (school assembly or large group setting).

- Schools purchasing vending machine misers, CFL light bulbs, smart power strips, or other items that will assist the school building to conserve electricity and be used as an educational opportunity for the students.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Qualified schools and classrooms may apply.

The school must be in the Warren RECC service territory or have more than 75% of the student body whose parents are Warren RECC members.

Pre-Application Information:

Winners will be notified no later than October 27, 2017. If your grant application is approved, you will be notified to proceed with your project/service. Warren RECC must receive a copy of your purchase order and/or invoice, issued from the finance director, sent to the attention of Jenny Rich for reimbursement.
