Grants of up to $2,000 to Oakland County, Michigan nonprofits and agencies for local health and fitness-related programs. Preference will be given to sustainable programs with ongoing impact rather than one-time projects. Funding is intended for specific projects in the areas of health, wellness and fitness activities, rather than general expenses or salaries.

The Brooksie Way minigrant program encourages innovative ideas, including but not limited to:
- Community walking programs
- Swimming clubs or senior swimming programs
- Activities for students outside of the school curriculum
- Neighborhood or association sport activities, such as basketball, soccer, baseball, football, etc.
- Nutritional education programs with low-cost exercise, like walking or running
- Community or senior centers expanding their physical fitness offerings
- Purchase sports or athletic equipment

Not funded:
- Capital expenses, such as construction, renovation, purchase of a facility, etc.
- School teacher salaries, in-service, released time or school administrative costs
- K-12, college or university faculty, payments to students for school-related activities or projects
- Consultants who are members of the applicant’s staff or board
- Existing deficits, licensing fees, fines, penalties, interest or litigation
- Food or beverages for hospitality or entertainment
- Fundraising or allocations to endowment or other restricted funds
- Funds which the applicant would re-grant to other organizations
- Operating costs not directly associated with the project
- Start-up costs for a new organization
- Other purposes not consistent with the Brooksie Way mission

Up to $2,000

All non-profit groups and agencies in Oakland County offering health and fitness-related programs are eligible to apply. Events must take place within Oakland County.

Mail an original and five copies (total of six sets) of the application form, budget and organizational profile to the contact address.

The person listed on the application as the organization’s contact will receive a telephone call if you have been chosen to receive a minigrant. If your project was not chosen to receive funding, you will receive a letter in the mail.

Minigrants will be awarded at the Brooksie Way holiday open house in mid December.
