Grants generally up to $2,000 to Montana nonprofit organizations for hospice services to needy people. Preference is given to organizations in Missoula, Lake, Sanders, and Mineral counties. Funding is intended for organizations that focus on relieving pain and symptoms of chronically ill, terminally ill, or seriously ill patients, and attend to their emotional and spiritual needs.

Foundation will fund mulitple awards per quarter.

Generally, grant awards are up to $2,000. Additional grants of an amount greater than $2,000 may be approved.

- Eligible organizations/persons include those in Western Montana who provide palliative and/or hospice care services to indigent individuals.
- Priority will be given to organizations that provide services to individuals within Missoula, Lake, Sanders, and Mineral counties.
- Organizations must demonstrate that they serve indigent individuals and be able to substantiate those costs which remain outstanding.

Compassionate Care Program Grants do not cover:

- Cost of staff salary or fringe benefits (except in cases of bereavement services).
- Costs which will be paid by the patient, his family and/or insurance.
- Costs which will be reimbursed through other funding sources.
- Costs to be reimbursed through these grants must be otherwise outstanding after all collection efforts.
- Organizations must certify that the information submitted is accurate and true and that the expenses will not be reimbursed from other sources.
- Documentation of expenses (quarterly – by organization, not by individual) must be included with application.

Organizations may apply for a Compassionate Care Program Grant for their organization no more than once per quarter, per county in which they provide services AND maintain an office (i.e. organization with an office in Missoula and a second office in St. Regis – both offices could apply in the same quarter although no more than one location would be funded).
