Grants starting at $5,000 to USA nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, volunteer fire companies, and chambers of commerce for programs that focus on promoting safety, community development, and/or education in their local communities. Priorities for each of these three areas are outlined below.

1. Safety programs should focus on:
- Auto and roadway safety
- Teen Driver Education
- Home safety and fire prevention
- Disaster preparedness
- Disaster recovery

2. Community Development programs should focus on:
- Affordable housing
- Job training
- Neighborhood revitalization
- Small business development
- Financial literacy
- First-time homeownership

3. Education programs should provide all children with an education that will allow them to reach their greatest potential and prepare them to participate in a nation and economy that continues as a global leader. State Farm funds three types of grants for K-12 public schools.

A. Teacher Development
B. Service-Learning
C. Education Reform/Systemic Improvement

Grant amount requested must be $5,000 or more.

Charitable contributions may be awarded to:

- Educational institutions
- Programs conducted by Municipal, county, state or federal government entities that align with State Farm's charitable focus.
- 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organizations
- 501(c)(4) volunteer fire companies
- 501(c)(6) chambers of commerce

State Farm does not fund:

- Individuals seeking personal help or scholarships
- Religious programs
- Politically partisan programs
- Organizations outside the USA

State Farm grant applications for 2017 are available Thursday, September 1, 2016 through Monday, October 31, 2016.
