Grants to Michigan nonprofit organizations in eligible locations to enhance the lives of local youth. Funding is intended for programs and projects to address the needs of young residents, empower youth, and enrich the community. Eligible applicants are organizations that serve high school and middle school students in the greater Greenville area.

The Greenville Youth Advisory Council works in conjunction with the Greenville Area Community Foundation (GACF) to award money to organizations serving youth of the greater Greenville area. The mission of the Greenville Youth Advisory Council is to make a difference by empowering youth, enhancing life, and enriching the community.

There are a number of factors that contribute to the decisions involved in the grantmaking process of the YAC's. Some of the major considerations include:

  • Number of area youth affected by the grant
  • Area where youth will be most affected by the grant (geographic location)
  • Significance of the grant on area youth
  • Ability of the grant to fulfill the needs of area youth.
  • Youth involvement with the grant application

Decisions about grant funding are based on many factors including the results of a Needs Assessment that is conducted every three years. Identified needs were put into a survey that was taken by Greenville students grades 6-12 through an online service. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Excessive Schoolwork
  • Sex & Health Education/Pregnancy Resources
  • Belittlement
  • Vaping
  • Bullying
  • Adult/Youth Communication
  • College PRessure
  • After School activities
  • Discrimination
  • Technology/Too Much Screen Time
