Grants to Minnesota individual educators for innovative programs that will create positive, long-term change in teaching and student learning. Funding is intended for collaborative initiatives that aim to bring about systematic change and positively impact the learning experiences of students.

Preference will be given to applications that:

- Address the theme/issue identified by the Education Minnesota Foundation Board as an area of concern or interest;
- Incorporate action research in their framework;
- Partner across grade levels and disciplines;
- Include partners (groups, organizations, individuals) who are in a position to effect and/or support changes in policy and/or practices related to the project initiatives;
- Produce useful data which can be shared and reproduced for the benefit of educators and students;
- Carefully consider the potential impact of their project on policy decision makers (classroom, local, district, legislature, voters);
- Carefully consider the potential statewide impact;
- Include matching and in-kind contributions.

Approximately $15,000 is available for one year.

The program consists of awards for projects with second-year funding contingent on progress toward the goal demonstrated in year one.

To be considered, applications must:

- Be member driven;
- Be coordinated by an active member of Education Minnesota who has teamed up with a nonprofit organization;
- Have student learning as an ultimate, clearly stated, desired outcome;
- Include Education Minnesota members as partners in the planning and implementing processes;
- Include a project evaluation component;
- Demonstrate capacity (or potential) for systemic impact on educators;
- Include goals, intended outcomes, participants, budgets and timelines.

Preference will be given to applicants with matching and in-kind contributions.
