In-kind grants to USA schools and nonprofits to encourage environmental and science education through the use of beehives. The funding source will aid grantees in setting up, maintaining, and observing bee shelters at local green spaces, schools, and community gardens. Materials will be granted in the form of honey bees, mason bees and/or leafcutter bees, their homes, beekeeping equipment, and information on how to care for the bees.

Also provided is the Sponsor-A-Hive Teacher’s Kit, which is full of lesson plans and worksheets to teach students more about their bee home. It’s designed to build reading and science skills, raise environmental awareness, and empower students to help the bees.

Sponsor-A-Hive bee homes will:

- Bolster bee populations;
- Advance education across multiple academic areas;
- Support local food initiatives, particularly in areas lacking access to fresh, local food
- Inspire communities to act as stewards for bees and bee’s natural environment;
- Improve quality of life for people in the community
