Grants of up to $5,000 to South Carolina nonprofit organizations for initiatives focused on affordable housing in he counties of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester. Applicants may submit drafts for review before December 2, 2016. Funding is intended to address both immediate and long-term needs in the Lowcountry focusing on education, creation, rehabilitation, and maintenance of affordable housing.

Requests are accepted for grants of up to $5,000.

Applications are accepted from nonprofits that:

a) serve people who live in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties;

b) are recognized by the I.R.S. as a public charity, exempt from income tax with a 501(c)(3) designation under I.R.S. Code Section 509(a)(1);

c) are not a political or lobbying organization; and

d) do not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, color, sexual orientation, national/ethnic origin or disability.

Only one application from each organization is accepted during any one grant cycle. Organizations do no need to “skip” a grant cycle after a grant is awarded, and applications can be submitted for both of the grant cycles within the year.

The application may be submitted more than two weeks prior to the deadline (before December 2, 2016), with a request that Coastal Community Foundation staff read and critique it and send feedback to the applicant so that suggested changes may be made. Staff review will not guarantee funding, but it may help strengthen the application.

Please be sure all applications materials, including the application and its required attachments, are sent together in one envelope or attached to one e-mail.

Before starting your grant application, please review the funding source's website listed below for updates/changes/addendums/conferences/LOIs.
