Fellowships of up to $2,500 to Alaska nursing students (BSN or RN) who commit to practicing for at least one year in a rural community. Preference will be given to students wishing to practice in operating rooms and those demonstrating financial need.
Eligible applicants are those who reflect the personal and professional values of David E. Knox:
- Commitment to professional nursing in rural settings
- Compassion for patients and co-workers
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Applicant should demonstrate motivation, academic and/or leadership potential.
Applicants must commit to a one year service obligation to practice nursing in a small community in Alaska (less than 50,000 residents per current census figures).

Up to $2,500
The nurse/RN must commit to practicing in a small Alaska community for a minimum of one year. The student must be eligible for graduation within two years of when the award will be used.
-Applicant must have completed prerequisites for a nursing (BSN or RN) degree-seeking program and must be enrolled full-time in that program by the beginning of the next academic session or semester when the award will be used.
-Applicants must be in good standing with a minimum cumulative college GPA of 3.0.
-Applicant must be eligible for graduation within two years of academic term when the award will be used. The award is available to nursing students in 2-, 3-, and 4-year programs, but favors those near completion.
-Applicant must commit to a one-year service obligation to practice nursing in a small community in Alaska (less than 50,000 residents per current census figures).
-Preference will be given to those who wish to practice in operating rooms.
-Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
- The Applicant should reflect the personal and professional values of David E. The David E. Knox Scholarship will run January 31, 2019 – March 28, 2019. Applications must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM AKST.
Important: Successful applicants must submit their student ID number and program information to ACF through the online system before their award can be disbursed. If the Foundation does not receive the above information by September 30, 2019, the scholarship may not be awarded. Please contact ACF if you cannot send in the information by this date.
