Grants of up to $3,000 to Nebraska nonprofit organizations, for-profits, and governmental entities for projects that provide hands-on experiences with nature and wildlife. The purpose of the program is to promote stewardship and appreciation for the state's natural resources. Potential projects include, but are not limited to, viewing site development, events, infrastructure, and equipment and plan development.

Eligible projects:

  • The project must have a majority focus on game species, as related to wildlife viewing.
  • The project must have a net positive impact on natural resources and wildlife.
  • The project must promote stewardship and appreciation of local natural resources.

Estimated Size of Grant:

A maximum of $3,000 is available per proposal.

Term of Contract:

All projects must be completed and invoiced by June 4, 2021.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Non-profit, governmental, and for-profit entities are all eligible to apply. If the application is for by a for-profit entity, the applicant must describe how it will not directly benefit the profit of the organization or company.


- A project that is already completed prior to completion of the grant process is not eligible.
- Nebraska Game and Parks Commission projects are not eligible.
- A project funded previously is not eligible.
- Computers, software or items of a similar nature are not eligible.

Pre-Application Information:

Submissions are due no later than January 21, 2021. Awarded projects will be announced February 2021.

A 25 percent match is required, which may include an in-kind match.

Watchable Wildlife Grants are a reimbursement program and must be able to show established match in order to receive reimbursement.
