Grants of up to $750 to Newport, Kentucky residents and community groups for projects that enhance the quality of life. Projects must be resident-driven and address at least one of the following focus areas: education; housing; economic development; health, safety and wellness; community engagement; and parks, recreation, and beautification.

ReNewport’s Mini-Grant program is established to jump start the process of implementation of the Quality of Life Plan and fund community engagement for the plan into the future. ReNewport’s leadership recognizes the crucial role that volunteers and residents of Newport played in the process of creating the Quality of Life Plan.

In furtherance of building on the momentum of the Quality of Life Planning process, ReNewport wishes to engage the residents and groups wishing to advance its goals by offering financial support for those willing to take on projects and objectives within the plan.

In addition, the program allows ReNewport to include new ideas centered on improving the Quality of Life of Newport’s residents and businesses as conditions change going forward.

All projects that advance the objectives and goals contained within the ReNewport Quality of Life document will be given priority consideration. However, projects benefiting the general population of Newport, KY that are not contained in the Quality of Life document specifically, will be considered for funding as well if the proposed project, at minimum, benefits the general public of Newport or one of its neighborhoods and is related to one of the six task force areas identified in the visioning session of ReNewport.

-Single Applicant: $500.
-Collaborating Groups: Up to $750.

Projects should be completed within one year of the date of award.

Any resident or community member (who lives or works in Newport) 18 years of age or older may apply for a ReNewport mini-grant.

Any projects benefiting a specific individual or that have no general public benefit for Newport will not be considered.

ReNewport will aid any individual or group in applying for these funds. Volunteers or staff, if available, will provide assistance with thinking through, designing, and implementing your project to conform to the proposal requirements. Staff can also review your application and budget before it is submitted to the Review Panel.

Applications will be accepted on a quarterly “rolling deadline” basis. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early in the application process as grants will be announced and awarded on an ongoing basis until all the ReNewport Mini Grants funds for the year have been allocated.

2016 ReNewport Mini-Grant Applications Rolling Deadlines:

-Applications must be submitted by May 31 for review at June ReNewport Mini-Grant Committee meeting.

-Applications must be submitted by August 31 for review at September ReNewport Mini-Grant Committee meeting.

-Applications must be submitted by November 30 for review at December ReNewport Mini-Grant
Committee meeting.
