Grants to North Carolina and South Carolina nonprofit hospitals and health organizations to improve health care and health outcomes. Program areas include access to care, disease prevention, and health care quality and safety. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking as follows:

1) Quality and Safety of Care

In today’s health care environment, improving quality and safety of care must focus on innovative ways of delivery that are high quality and affordable. Grant requests should aim to improve outcomes for patients and reduce costs.

Examples of the Foundation’s work focused on Quality and Safety of Care, include:
-Emergency Medical Services
-Improving Health Care through Collaboration

2) Access to Care

Improving access to health care services improved quality of life and health status for all individuals. Funding community-based networks of care that improve access to primary and specialty care for the low-income, uninsured to have access to coordinated care is a priority.

-Expanding the primary care workforce in under-represented or rural, disadvantaged communities
-Developing new models of workforce training

-Creating a Network of Care for the Low-Income Uninsured
-Strengthening the Primary Care Workforce

3) Prevention
