The 1772 Foundation
Grants of up to $15,000 to Rhode Island nonprofit organizations for the restoration of historically significant sites. Letters of inquiry are due December 31. Eligible projects include the following: exterior finishes, painting, and surface restoration; roofs and windows; masonry and chimney repainting; fire detection/lightning protection/security systems; repairs to/ restoration of porches; and repairs to foundations and sills.
To demonstrate the sustainability of historic sites, applicants may be required to submit a cyclical maintenance plan, condition assessment, restoration plan or stewardship plan that has been prepared or updated within the last five years. If an appropriate plan does not exist, the Foundation will consider providing support for development of a plan on a case-by-case basis.

To be eligible to apply, organizations must have a 501(c)(3) IRS designation.
Organizations also must have closed any previously awarded matching grant to be eligible to apply.
Funding will not be provided for schools or churches.

Letters of inquiry will be accepted until December 31, 2017.
Not all letters of inquiry will result in an invitation to submit a full application. Invited applications will be due on March 2, 2018 for consideration at its May board meeting.
You will be notified no later than May 18, 2018 of the board's decision.
