Grants of $15,000 to nonprofit organizations, businesses, public agencies, and individuals for programs, projects, and services that will assist low- to moderate-income residents and residents of color. Expression of interest forms are due December 1, 2016. Funding areas include, but are not limited to: economic development, education, environment, financial stability, health, housing, public safety, transportation, and workforce development.

Design grants are $15,000 each.

Teams include (or plans to include) representatives from key sectors (public, private, nonprofit, and local residents, including low-income residents and residents of color).

Lead applicant’s budget and financial documents reflect capacity to manage grant funds and reporting requirements.

Eligible Connecticut cities include cities with populations greater than 25,000 that have median family incomes below the state’s median family income, and poverty rates above the state poverty rate. Eligible cities include: Bridgeport, Bristol, Danbury, Hartford, East Hartford, Manchester, Meriden, Middletown, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Norwich, Torrington, Waterbury, West Haven, and Windham.

The $15,000 design grant can be used for costs associated with planning and developing your initiative, including staff time, consultants, event costs, and supply costs.

Capital expenditures and lobbying activities are ineligible.

The team’s design phase budget reflects a 20% in-kind match of grant dollars ($3,000).

- Design Grant Application due Tuesday, Jan 31, 2017 by 5:00 PM
- Design grants awarded March 2017
