Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $1,000 to California, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Tennessee, and Georgia K-12 teachers, librarians, school media specialists, and administrators in eligible counties and cities. Funds may be used to purchase books, videos, CDs, DVDs, computer software and hardware, and any other educational resources.

Eligible locations include:
- California: Alameda, Contra Costa, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Ventura Counties;
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Nevada: Carson City, Clark, Douglas, and Washoe Counties;
- New York
- Nashville, Tennessee

Project goals and learning objectives must be clearly defined and tied to students' academic needs. The expected impact on student performance should be described for all participants.

If a field trip is involved, it should be well-planned pre and post-trip activities should be connected to classroom learning objectives.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Applicants may apply for grants of up to $1,000.

Term of Contract:

Funds must be expended by December 31 and projects must be completed by the end of the school year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Teachers, librarians, school media specialists, and administrators may apply if they work fulltime at K-12 schools in the service area (see Grant Coverage Areas below).

Teachers may apply individually or collaborate with other teachers in their school and submit a joint application.

Note that teams must be from the same school. Individual teachers may not apply for multiple grants and cannot be involved with multiple teams.

Pre-Application Information:

Online applications are accepted October 1 through November 30 of each year. Awards are announced in the spring of the following year (recipients are notified by email).

Grant checks will be made payable to the school and designated for the stated use in the application.

Teachers may apply individually for grants of up to $500, or collaborate with other teachers in their school and submit a joint application. Individual teachers may not apply for multiple grants and cannot be involved with multiple teams. Please note the following requirements:

The school principal or administrator must understand and fully support the project, as evidenced by signing the statement of support on the application form and final grant agreement.
