Grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to Douglas County, Kansas nonprofits, agencies, and tribal entities for arts, community, and childrens' programs. Grant information sessions will be held on January 10, 11, and 12, 2017. Funding is provided for programs in the areas of human services, health, housing, arts and culture, children and youth, community development, education, and the environment.

Funding is intended to improve the lives of Douglas County, Kansas residents. Programs that meet the following criteria are prioritized:
- Provide a substantial benefit
- Produce meaningful, measurable results
- Include a plan to measure results
- Build self-sufficiency and help attract additional funds and resources for the participants or organization
- Assist with or promote collaboration among nonprofits to minimize duplication

In addition, the foundation is more likely to fund requests that:
- Are clearly and concisely described
- Are based on complete and clear income and expense projections
- Do not require recurring DCCF funding for the same project or purpose
- Reasonably ensure continued support after foundation funding is no longer available
- Are proposed by organizations that demonstrate sound financial practices and strong staff and volunteer support

$1,000 - $10,000

Eligible applicants:
- Proposals must come from a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, tribal entity or local government.
- Proposals must be for work that primarily benefits residents of Douglas County, Kansas.
- Organizations must conduct business without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability or national origin.

Generally, grants are not awarded for:
- Purchase of tickets or tables at special events, memberships, or advertising
- Individuals
- Annual campaigns
- Endowment funds
- Religious purposes
- Lobbying or political activities prohibited by the IRS
- Debt retirement

The following grant-seekers information sessions are open to anyone. They are especially helpful to people who are new to grant writing and/or unfamiliar with the foundation's Community Grants program.

Attendees will learn about the types of activities that are funded and how to improve their chances of getting a grant. Questions are welcome throughout the session.

The application form is available online six weeks before the February 1 deadline.

Applications may be submitted until 11:59 p.m.on the due date. However, applicants are strongly recommended to submit the application by 4:00 p.m. If you encounter technical problems during submission, program staff will be in the office and available to help you. Staff support is not available after 5:00 p.m. Applications that have not been successfully submitted by the deadline will be considered ineligible.
